When i first started my career in the online media business in 2004 I did so as an online editor for ProSieben.de, back then one of the first big entertainment websites in germany with a huge community in the background. We are talking about pre Facebook or even Youtube times and yet I managed various multimedia contents already like text, images and video.

I never lost my interest in communities and all sorts of media so here I was in 2013 still managing communities on Facebook for the Restaurant & Bar Atlas Pancakes or the Dancestudio motion*s motion*s) as well as creating and mixing content of all kinds like video, audio and pictures and creating collages of both images and sounds and I am still having fun doing it!

If it wasn’t for a very wild guess in 2004, when someone in the product management of ProSieben.de asked me if I knew how to use Flash, I would not have gotten the chance to create my first flash banners for tv shows and games on ProSieben.de.

Those were quite successful and a few months later I landed in the department „Multimedia Services“ as a screen designer, beeing responsible for designing banners and microsites for tv-shows or movies. I also created different things from screensavers to small games and other flash applications. After almost four years I had learned everything I could and it was time to move on and back to my hometown Berlin.

For the next four years I was my own boss for a change and working as a freelancer for MTV Networks Germany, MyVideo.de, ImmobilienScout24.de, Rocket Internet and others.

Involved in a website project for Viva and Paco Rabanne in 2010 I had the opportunity to work with developers of the social media agency Berliner Brandung and after half a year of freelancing for them in 2011 I felt like I found my place and took on a position as an Art Director Online.

I found joy in concepting and designing social media campaigns and Facebook Apps. With some of those the company won important clients such as Galeria Kaufhof, Rossmann, Fressnapf & Euronics.

Finally a place where I can come up with lots of ideas and visualize them quickly.

I‘ve always been interested not only in „making things pretty“ but also creating products and services that are easy to use and of value to the people. In 2012 and 2013 I had a big opportunity to put that into action. I found myself at the dance studio motion*s, responsible for Content,- and Social Media Management as well as Art Direction and Strategy.

The 12 weeks User Experience Design Course I went to at the same time in 2013 helped me a lot with concepting and designing better digital products and crafting them around user needs and business goals.

At motion*s I optimized the website structure and content towards the users needs. I also had to digg a little into the field of SEO as well. Since the dance studio was a fresh start-up and I as a freelancer expensive, I had to figure out ways to help develop and grow the business. My constant goal was to make the clients as happy as possible with our service.

I analyzed the media consumption as well as the habits and wishes of the customers for new dance classes and installed a system where parents could communicate to us their demand for specific children classes.

Lot‘s of positive feedback came from parents since we planned the courses around their needs and weekly schedules to serve as many of them as possible with what we offered.

In the summer of 2013 I took the offer to work for joiz Germany. With my passion for the social web and new technology I was happy to join as an Interaction Designer at the first german social tv channel in August of 2013 at a very early stage of the channels history. There I gave input on how to enhance the users experience on the website and Facebook fan pages and designed online marketing campaigns.

For the first time I had the chance to work with a gamification system called Gigya. Gamification being a field I first got interested in 2011, after seeing this inspiring TED Talk of Jane Mc Gonnighal. In 2012 I already had the chance of diving into the topic at the gsummit gamification conference in Berlin. There my team won the creative problem solving game. Fascinating topic that I hope to be having further contact with that field in the future.

After a bit more than a year at joiz i figured it was time for me to move on. I felt like I wasn’t cut out for the crazy demands of such a venture. At the same time I couldn’t identify with the product that joiz Germany was becoming.
